Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Atonik concentration on the growth of shallot plants. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a single factor was employed, consisting of six treatment levels: A0 (no Atonik), A1 (Atonik at 1 mL L⁻¹), A2 (Atonik at 1.5 mL L⁻¹), A3 (Atonik at 2 mL L⁻¹), A4 (Atonik at 2.5 mL L⁻¹), and A5 (Atonik at 3 mL L⁻¹). Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in 18 experimental units. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Nusa Lontar University, located in Mokdale Village, Rote Ndao Regency. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and if a significant effect was found, the results were further tested using the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at the 5% level. The results indicate that soaking the plants in Atonik had a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, number of bulbs, and bulb weight per plant. The greatest plant height (34 cm) was observed with an Atonik concentration of 3 mL L⁻¹; this was significantly different (at the 5% level) from the control (no Atonik) and the 1 mL L⁻¹, 1.5 mL L⁻¹, and 2 mL L⁻¹ treatments, but not significantly different from the 2.5 mL L⁻¹ treatment. The highest number of leaves (25.3) was also observed with an Atonik concentration of 3 mL L⁻¹; this was significantly different (at the 5% level) from the control and the 1 mL L⁻¹, 1.5 mL L⁻¹, and 2 mL L⁻¹ treatments, but did not differ significantly from the 2.5 mL L⁻¹ treatment. The highest number of tubers was obtained with a soaking concentration of 3 mL L⁻¹ (10.7 tubers), which differed significantly from the control (no soaking) and the 1 mL L⁻¹ concentration, but did not differ significantly from the 1.5 mL L⁻¹, 2 mL L⁻¹, and 2.5 mL L⁻¹ concentrations (at the 5% significance level). The highest tuber weight was also obtained with a soaking concentration of 3 mL L⁻¹ (32.3 g), which differed significantly from the control and the 1 mL L⁻¹ concentration, but did not differ significantly from the treatments with concentrations of 1.5 mL L⁻¹, 2 mL L⁻¹, and 2.5 mL L⁻¹ (at the 5% significance level).
