Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is a common analytical technique for determining the authenticity of a product that has been widely used to trace the geographical origin and authenticity of oil and one of the techniques used to develop traceability methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) Spectrum. The sample used was CPO from the Processing Plant 30 samples processed in the Laboratory with an FT-IR Spectrometer Type Spectrum Two and the normality test for each FTIR absorption value using the Shapiro-Wilk test with a significant value greater than 0.05. Smoothing with the Savitzky-Golay method, the next stage is discriminant analysis (multivariate) to determine the characterization of FTIR waves with significance criteria above 0.05 and finally scaling the data on the spectra using the first and second derivatives. The characteristics of the FTIR wave are characterized by the single bond vibration spectrum region caused by stretching between O–H, C–H, and N–H with the highest peak at 2919 cm-1. The characteristics of the CPO samples obtained will differ based on the absorbance value of the CPO spectra. The R2 value will be higher in the data that has been scaled compared to the normal spectra data with the highest R2 value being 0.54 which indicates reduced noise and the obtained spectrum characteristics that can be used as characteristics for tracing CPO.
