Authorship Criteria

Jurnal IPTA (Industri Perjalanan Wisata) is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the contributions of individuals involved in scholarly research and manuscript preparation. Authorship must be based on meaningful intellectual contributions and must reflect the responsibility of each author for the integrity of the published work.

1. Criteria for Authorship

Individuals listed as authors in a manuscript submitted to Jurnal IPTA must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of findings, or other essential aspects of the study.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted or published.

  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their contributions and to help ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals designated as authors must meet these criteria. Individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be given the opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, critical revision, and final approval, as applicable.

These criteria are informed by the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and are applied in the context of tourism and travel research.

2. Contributions That Do Not Independently Qualify for Authorship

Activities such as obtaining funding, providing general supervision, offering administrative support, collecting data without additional qualifying intellectual contributions, or performing language editing and proofreading do not independently justify authorship.

Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the manuscript, provided that their contributions are appropriately described and their permission to be acknowledged has been obtained.

3. Author Order and Corresponding Author

The order of authors must be determined collectively by the authors based on their respective contributions and mutual agreement. Jurnal IPTA does not prescribe a universal formula for determining author order.

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact with the editorial team throughout submission, peer review, and publication. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript, agreed to its submission to Jurnal IPTA, and provided accurate authorship information.

4. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a clear explanation and written agreement from all authors concerned, including any individual being added or removed.

All authorship changes are subject to editorial consideration and approval. The editorial team may request additional documentation where necessary to ensure that the proposed changes are appropriate and transparent.

5. Authorship Disputes and Misconduct

All authors are responsible for ensuring that the authorship information submitted to the journal is accurate and complete. Honorary, guest, gift, and ghost authorship are not acceptable.

If a dispute concerning authorship arises, the editorial team may suspend the editorial process while seeking clarification and supporting documentation. Where the dispute cannot be resolved through agreement among the individuals concerned, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution(s) for investigation. The journal will consider the available information and take appropriate editorial action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

6. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools and other automated systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work.

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in preparing a manuscript when required by the journal's policy. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and proper attribution of all content submitted for publication.

7. Author Confirmation

By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal IPTA, the corresponding author confirms that the authorship information is accurate, that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, and that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission for consideration.

All authors share responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the research and the accuracy of the authorship information provided to the journal.
