Abstract

This study evaluates spare part inventory at the Locomotive Depot warehouse of PT KAI (Persero) Daop 5 Purwokerto using the Fast, Slow, Non Moving (FSN) method and Turn Over Ratio (TOR) as a basis for stock control. Differences in usage rates among spare part items create uneven inventory conditions, requiring classification based on item movement levels. Secondary data from warehouse inventory records for the period January–December 2025 were used, comprising 452 spare part items that met the complete-data criteria out of 1,429 recorded items. The TOR value of each item was calculated from the average inventory and usage quantity, then classified into Fast Moving (TOR > 3), Slow Moving (TOR 1–3), and Non Moving (TOR < 1) categories, as well as a Non Stock category for items not kept as permanent stock. The classification results show that Slow Moving is the largest group with 152 items (33.63%), followed by Non Stock with 135 items (29.87%), Non Moving with 84 items (18.58%), and Fast Moving with 81 items (17.92%). These findings indicate an imbalance between item movement levels and storage policy, so that inventory management needs to be adjusted to actual usage rates to support the smooth operation of locomotive maintenance and repair activities.
