Author Guidelines

WRITING GUIDANCE

  1. We publish Advances in Tropical Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences (ATBES) three times a year, in February-April, June-August, and October-December.
  2. We invite manuscripts as original research papers, short communications, case reports, reviews, or mini-reviews for rapid peer-review publishing in the ATBES.
  3. The technical paper is original and unpublished.
  4. The author writes the technical paper in English. The organization of the paper includes an abstract, introduction, research method, results and analysis, conclusion, Thanksgiving (if any), and reference. The paper length is a maximum of 10 pages, including tables and figures.
  5. The abstract should briefly summarize the essence of the paper and address the objective, technology or method, results, conclusions, and clinical impact.
  6. The technical papers submitted for publication must advance the state of knowledge and cite relevant prior work.
  7. The ATBES journal template guides paper writing. When submitting, you must include a cover letter and declaration form.
  8. All accepted papers must complete and sign the copyright and publishing agreement forms and then send them to atbes@unud.ac.id for processing.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Authors who publish in this journal agree to the following terms:

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and its initial publication in this journal.

Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

Communications Emails, messages, and feedback sent to our editorial office. Retained to maintain records and ensure continuity of correspondence.

  • To process, evaluate, and publish submitted manuscripts;
  • To manage the peer-review process and communicate with authors and reviewers;
  • To verify editorial roles, prevent conflicts of interest, and maintain publication integrity;

  • To monitor and improve website functionality, accessibility, and security;
  • To compile anonymous statistical reports regarding readership, downloads, and usage patterns;

Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • With service providers: Trusted partners assisting with manuscript management, indexing, archiving, or analytics — bound by strict data protection agreements;
  • With indexing & archiving bodies: Necessary publication metadata (author names, affiliations, article titles, abstracts, DOIs) is shared with databases such as Crossref, Google Scholar, SINTA, Garuda, Dimensions, and other relevant indexing services;
  • When legally required: If compelled by law, court order, or government authority;
  • With your consent: For any other purpose explicitly agreed upon by you.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:

  • Password-protected accounts with encrypted authentication;
  • Secure server infrastructure maintained by Udayana University;
  • Restricted access to personal data limited to authorised editorial staff only;
