ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS TERHADAP DISKURSUS “TRANSPUAN YA PEREMPUAN” PADA MEDIA SOSIAL X

Abstract

Nowadays, the LGBTQ+ issue has become one of the crucial topics of discourse in Indonesia, especially in its discussions on social media. The emergence of various groups of people voicing their support for equal rights for gender diversity has led Indonesian society to form pro and con opinions towards the LGBTQ+ issue, particularly concerning the presence of trans women in public spaces. This research aims to examine the social phenomenon related to the issue of “Transpuan ya perempuan” on the social media X through the critical discourse analysis perspective proposed by Sara Mills. A qualitative approach using the documentation method and passive observation technique was applied in this research. There were 30 tweets used as data sources to observe the interactions between the opinion maker and other X users in constructing critical discourse regarding the stigma faced by trans women in society. The results of this research indicated that there is marginalization and legitimization of religion directed at trans women when they are involved in the discourse of “Transpuan ya perempuan” from a subject-object position. In addition, readers were presented with different perspectives on the issue of whether trans women are women, namely from the pro, con, and neutral perspectives in responding to the statement that trans women are the same as women.
