HUMOR SEBAGAI PENYELESAIAN PERKARA OLEH RAJA YANG ADIL DALAM SEBUAH TEKS DONGENG KUNO PAKUALAMAN

Abstract

Javanese manuscripts are known to contain texts with a variety of information, such as customs, religion, laws, moral teachings, and a society's outlook on life. It is an effort of the ancient people in seeing, assessing, and recording a phenomenon. As a connection between the past and the present, it is important to reveal manuscripts and texts. One of the manuscripts entitled Dasanama saha Pĕpali in the Widya Pustaka Pakualaman collection contains a text entitled Barkahing Ratu Adil which contains a fair king in deciding cases. The text is written using Javanese script and language, thus to reveal and present it requires philology through the method of script and translation. The results of the research from a narrative point of view show that the text tells the story of a king who was able to settle a dispute over buffalo ownership by using humour, pretending to have given birth like a woman. The content of the text shows that humour can be used as an alternative to solving problems in everyday life.
