GAGURITAN DEWA BHUTA KALA KAJIAN PENOKOHAN DAN FUNGSI

Abstract

Gaguritan Dewa Buta Kala is one of the literary works by I Wayan Turun from Kesiman. This text is analyzed using Teuw’s structural theory and Kuntjaraningrat’s theory of values. The method applied consists of three stages: (1) data collection, (2) data analysis, and (3) presentation of the analysis results. This study discusses the characterization and function of the Gaguritan Dewa Bhuta Kala text. Gaguritan Dewa Bhuta Kala contains characters such as Dewa (God), Bhuta, and Kala. Due to the emptiness in the world, Ida Sanghyang Widi Wasa created the universe and its contents, including the gods, to maintain the balance of the universe according to their roles and territories, which are divided into various domains. Meanwhile, the characters Bhuta and Kala also have their own domains, roles, and powers that are essential in preserving the balance of the universe. The functions of Gaguritan Dewa Bhuta Kala include a historical function regarding the creation of the Gods, Bhuta, and Kala; a religious function related to the foundational aspects of Hinduism, namely tatwa (philosophy), susila (ethics), and upacara (rituals); and an aesthetic function reflected in the use of various pupuh (metrical patterns), which, when sung, exhibit a high aesthetic value
