Ruang pemanfaatan kawasan sejarah Kota Tua Bukit Samak Kecamatan Manggar, Kabupaten Belitung Timur

Abstract

The Bukit Samak Old Town Historical Area was established in the 1800s when the Billiton Maatschappij tin mining company began operations in Manggar City. Initially, this area served as a residential settlement for mining workers relocating from Bukit Manggar. However, following the transfer of assets in 1995, many historical buildings in the area deteriorated, were repurposed, or even abandoned. This study aims to (1) identify the existing conditions of the Bukit Samak Historical Area, (2) analyze the historical value of the area, and (3) assess the spatial utilization of the historical area based on its historical significance. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method, considering historical periods, the condition of historical buildings and elements, and zoning delineation. The findings indicate that there are 18 cultural heritage sites categorized as Bangunan Cagar Budaya (BCB) and Objek Diduga Cagar Budaya (ODCB) within different zones. The historical assessment, which includes evaluations of authenticity and uniqueness, classifies the area into core, buffer, and development zones. Each zone is supported by historical spatial functions and preservation efforts, including preservation and conservation measures, to ensure the sustainability of the heritage site.
