Biodiversity in Indonesia, especially in watersheds, has a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem balance, with riparian vegetation serving as a buffer for the ecosystem, influencing the hydrological cycle, soil fertility, and the survival of various organisms. This research was conducted in downstream of Tukad Ayung watershed, particulary in Kesiman Petilan and Kesiman Kertalangu Villages with aims on identifying existing plant species and analyzing the importance value index and vegetation diversity index. The method used in this research is a survey method with descriptive quantitative analysis approach was applied. The research results show that the diversity of riparian vegetation in the downstream area of the Tukad Ayung watershed, East Denpasar, includes various growth stages, including trees, poles, saplings, seedlings, shrubs, and herbs. A total of 98 species were identified, belonging to 48 families, consisting of 31 tree species, 7 seedling species, 25 shrub species, and 35 herb species.Analysis using the Shannon-Wiener Index showed that the diversity of riparian vegetation at both stations (natural riparian and artificial riparian) was moderate category, (H’) = 2,01. Station A (natural riparian) had a diversity index (H’) value of 1,74, while Station B (artificial riparian) showed a higher diversity index (H’) value of 2.28. Based on the analysis results, 7 recommendations can be given for riparian vegetation species that can be used for planting including Arenga pinnata, Aquilaria malaccensis, Cocos nucifera, Ficus racemosa, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Macaranga tanarius, and Mallotus barbatus.
