Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

GOVSPHERE: Jurnal Tata Kelola dan Kebijakan Publik


1. General Policy

Before preparing and submitting a manuscript, authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing a submitted paper once it has entered the publication process (review, copyediting, layout editing, etc.). During this stage, the journal has allocated significant time, effort, and editorial resources.

Manuscripts must be prepared carefully in accordance with the guidelines and template provided by GOVSPHERE: Jurnal Tata Kelola dan Kebijakan Publik.


2. Language

Manuscripts may be written in:

  • Bahasa Indonesia; or

  • English

Submissions in other languages may be considered. However, translation costs must be borne by the author prior to publication acceptance notification.


3. Manuscript Format

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) only

  • Other formats such as LaTeX or PDF are not accepted

  • Paper size: A4

  • Spacing: 1.15

  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt

  • Margin: 2.5 cm (all sides)


4. Article Length

Manuscripts should be between:

4,000 – 6,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.


5. Article Title

  • Maximum 15 words

  • Clear, concise, and representative of the study

  • Followed by:

    • Author(s) name (without academic degrees)

    • Institutional affiliation

    • Email address (corresponding author clearly identified)


6. Authorship Criteria

All listed authors must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception/design of the work, or acquisition/analysis/interpretation of data

  2. Drafting or critically revising the manuscript

  3. Final approval of the version to be published

  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work


7. Structured Abstract

A structured abstract (maximum 250 words, excluding keywords) must include:

  • Purpose (mandatory)

  • Design/Methodology/Approach (mandatory)

  • Findings/Results (mandatory)

  • Research Limitations/Implications (if applicable)

  • Practical Implications (if applicable)

  • Social Implications (if applicable)

  • Originality/Value (mandatory)


8. Keywords

  • Maximum 5 (five) keywords/phrases

  • Must reflect the main topics of the article


9. Article Classification

Authors must select one of the following categories:

  • Research Paper

  • Viewpoint

  • Technical Paper

  • Conceptual Paper

  • Case Study

  • Literature Review

  • General Review


10. Headings Structure

Headings must be concise and clearly indicate hierarchy, for example:

  1. Introduction

  2. Literature Review

  3. Research Method

  4. Results and Discussion

  5. Conclusion


11. Notes / Endnotes

  • Use only if absolutely necessary

  • Indicated in text using consecutive numbers in square brackets [1]

  • Listed at the end of the manuscript


12. Figures

  • Must be high resolution and clearly legible

  • Numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)

  • Inserted within the manuscript near the point of reference

  • Figures from MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint must be submitted in native format

  • Photographs must be high quality


13. Tables

  • Inserted in the main body near the relevant discussion

  • Numbered consecutively (Table 1, Table 2, etc.)

  • Any notes or explanations must appear below the table


14. Research Funding Disclosure

Authors must:

  • Declare all external funding sources

  • Describe the role of the funder in:

    • Study design

    • Data collection

    • Analysis

    • Writing

    • Submission

This statement must appear in the Acknowledgements section.


15. Biographies and Acknowledgements

If included:

  • Submitted as a separate MS Word file

  • Author biography: maximum 100 words per author

  • Acknowledgements should clearly mention funding, institutional support, or contributions not qualifying for authorship


16. References

All references must follow:

APA (American Psychological Association) Style – latest edition

Requirements:

  • Only cited works should appear in the reference list

  • Arranged alphabetically and chronologically

  • Carefully checked for accuracy and consistency

  • Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as:

    • Mendeley

    • Zotero

    • EndNote

17. Publication Ethics

GOVSPHERE adheres to principles of academic integrity and publication ethics. Submitted manuscripts must:

  • Be original and not previously published

  • Not be under review in another journal

  • Be free from plagiarism

  • Properly cite all sources
