Abstract

Salt can be used as a solid bath salt product or better known as both bomb salt. The purpose of the study  was to determine the effect of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid concentrations as well as to the  physical quality properties (organoleptic, water content, pH), effectiveness (dissolving time), and safety  of bath salt preparations and to determine the best treatment that can produce bath salts based on  quality characteristics. The addition of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid concentrations gave an effect  on the results of the water content test and the dissolving time test. The higher the concentration of  sodium bicarbonate and citric acid, the water content value will increase by 3%. The higher the  concentration of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid, the faster the bath salt dissolves. The concentration  of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid had no effect on the pH value and the dissolving time of bath salts.  The results of the organoleptic test are known based on 15 panelists on average the panelists like  products from bath salts starting from the attributes of color, aroma, texture and overall. The best  formulation results of bath salts were found in the treatment with 50% sodium bicarbonate and 30%  citric acid.
