Abstract

Rice has become a strategic food commodity in Indonesia since the Green Revolution era, establishing its position as the primary staple food. The government continues to maintain rice
availability and quality through standards set by the National Food Agency. This study aims to analyze the effect of color sorter machine utilization on improving rice quality in Bali. The
research employed a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics. The population consisted of 45 Rice Milling Units (RMU) using color sorter, applying a census sampling method. Observed variables included machine usage intensity, moisture content, degree of milling, head rice percentage, and defective grain percentage on rice quality. The results indicate that the intensity of color sorter usage and head rice percentage have a positive and significant effect on rice quality, while moisture content and defective grain percentage have a negative effect. The degree of milling also positively influences the visual quality of rice. The R-square value of 0.72 indicates that the model
explains most of the variation in rice quality. The findings imply that optimal use of color sorter technology, supported by proper post-harvest management, can significantly enhance rice
quality and improve the competitiveness of local rice products.
