Abstract

FATETA Bakery is a bread manufacturing company that was established in August 2023 with a production capacity of two batches per day, each using 7 kg of ingredients. The bread production process is divided into six closely related departments: ingredient preparation and weighing, ingredient mixing, rounding, baking, cooling, and packaging. However, the existing production layout was deemed inefficient, leading to issues in workflow and material handling costs. To address this, a layout improvement was implemented using the CRAFT method (Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique) with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the production process. The results of the iterations through the add-in software showed a 25% increase in efficiency, resulting in operational cost savings of Rp73.038.720 per year.
