Abstract

The availability of food at the household level is part of the parameters for success in food security. Food consumption reflects the ability and capacity of households to buy and obtain food. The high availability of food in an area does not guarantee sufficient food availability in households. Communities in the study locations have a malnutrition rate of 9.3%, so it is necessary to know the availability and consumption patterns of households. This research was conducted by interviewing 84 respondents. Data analysis used the calorie content equation of food ingredients and food pattern analysis of expectations. The results showed that the average food supply in farmer households reached 1,351 kg/year. The availability of food for consumption is included in the sufficient category, reaching 533 days/year. However, in terms of farmers' consumption patterns, they have not varied, as can be seen from the achievement of the PPH score of only 63.7 out of a maximum score of 100 which must be achieved for an ideal and optimal food consumption pattern. For consumption that is close to the ideal PPH score is in the grain group, and the fatty fruit/seed group while the lowest PPH score is in the Animal Food group. This shows that although in terms of availability it is in sufficient condition, but it is still low in terms of food diversity. This condition is thought to have caused the supply to be sufficient to meet food needs in one year, but cases of malnutrition were still found in the study locations.
